Retreats
Our local Lutheran camp, Camp Dixie, is located on Perdido Bay in Josephine, AL. Camp Dixie holds Youth Retreats each summer for a week at a time for several different age group brackets. These fun events foster learning about God’s Word, fellowship, and growing in faith. The retreats are open to young people from all of the local Lutheran Churches’ youth groups, and offer the opportunity for young people to meet new friends from other congregations. Many generations of Redeemer’s youth have created lasting lifelong friendships and memories as a result of attending Summer Youth Retreats at Camp Dixie! The youth group projects mentioned above may help some youth afford to attend who otherwise might not be able.
Trips
The National LCMS Youth Gathering is an opportunity to travel and meet with thousands of other young Lutheran Christians from around the country. The National LCMS Youth Gathering takes place every 3 years, and is for high school aged youth. If you or a family member are interested in attending, contact the pastor or our youth leaders.
"Higher Things" also conducts gatherings for our youth. The mission of Higher Things® is to assist parents, congregations, and pastors in cultivating, encouraging and promoting a distinctively Lutheran identity among their youth and young adults.
"Higher Things" meetings are for middle school and high school aged youth - focusing on those who are confirmed in our confession of faith. Meetings are scheduled several times a year in different regions of the United States. More information about Higher Things can be found by visiting: www.higherthings.org
Projects
In past years, Redeemer’s Youth Group has taken on projects to earn money to attend local Youth Retreats, Regional and National Youth Gatherings, and special trips. In some of our photos, the Youth Group can be seen bagging groceries at a local grocery store for tips. Other projects include spaghetti dinners and the bake sales to raise money for special projects; and servant events to encourage our congregation and community. If YOU are interested in encouraging our youth group and communitry: joining it as a participant, or assisting with planning future events, please contact the pastor or youth leaders through the church office. Jake and Alex Jansen are our Sr. High youth group leaders, and provide GREAT opportunities to gather in Christ - and to grow in His goodness and grace!
