Church - As one approaches the front of the Church today, a small white limestone plaque can be easily seen set in the brick wall near the lower right hand corner. On it is engraved our Church name and Redeemer’s birth year (1953), and the date of the construction of the church and education buildings (1955).
The inside of the Church is beautiful, with a ceiling that is supported by seven scissors trusses with Gothic-like styling that were planed from old virgin heart pine – this eliminates the need for intermediate columns and permits a wide open inside space. If you use your imagination, it kind of looks like the inverted keel of an ark!
There is cushioned pew seating for at least 300 people, and by adding folding chairs, we can accommodate 350 at overflow capacity. Over the years there have been events where there was “standing room only” with people lining the wall aisles, and it is possible that there were over 300 people inside worshiping God in prayer & with praise!
Grade school - Here, down the long hallway just through the side door of the Church, grade-school classrooms can be found on either side. In the photo, + Pastor Cole + prays with the Little Lambs Choir before they sing on Sunday morning. Organist Karen Fulton (behind Pastor) directs the Choir.
Fellowship Hall – Here, Adult Sunday School members pack “goodie bags” for Christmas presents to give to the children after our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. The Fellowship Hall is located in our Middle School (6-8th grade) classroom building. There is a full kitchen in the building and it doubles as a lunchroom for the students M-F during the school week. Church Council and other meetings are held there throughout the month, and the building is available for use, subject to availability.
Redeemer Lutheran Activity Center (RLAC) – Our newest and largest building contains a full sized commercial grade kitchen, Activity Hall, and Basketball Gym. Adult Sunday School classes, Voter Assembly Meetings, Bible Studies, potluck dinners, and receptions are held here. The building is available for use by members of the congregation, as an outreach to the community, and may be rented for approved functions by outside groups and organizations.
Gym – This picture shows us using our gym for a school function. We have used the building to host Red Cross CPR training, Rally Day Events, School Christmas Programs, Youth Sock Hops, Fall Festivals, Vacation Bible School Events, and LWML Summer Rummage Sales.
Meeting House – Redeemer also owns a small house on Winthrop Ave. that serves as a meeting place for various groups in the church and school.
